Artist Statement
I am driven to analyze how memory and events translate from my perception to viewers’ comprehension. I enjoy questioning how reality and the mind co-exist and bond to ensue and materialize. Everything carries a story, which is how I perceive the work I do. The interpretation of moments as art is the perfect metaphor for who we are and an analogy of the impermanence in our lives.
Even though our global connection works to improve the human experience, I feel an urge to preserve all analog activities related to the way I do my artwork. Whether I am painting, photographing, or sketching, I feel that story is essential to me as the billions of us together define and learn from each other’s points of view.
I tend to bounce between observations, stories, writing, women’s issues, and environmentalism. As an immigrant and middle-aged woman, I am trying to voice more inclusive ideas relevant to us all. I want my art to be instrumental in the journey towards a kinder, gentler, and a more humane society.
